Characteristics
The Costa d’Amalfi PGI Lemon has an intense aroma, a tapered shape, a juicy pulp and almost no seeds. It is rich in vitamin C and essential oils. Today about 100 hectares are dedicated to its cultivation, and about 3,500 thousand tons are harvested every year, without the use of innovative technologies, given the difficulty of access in many areas.
Among the processed products stands out the “limoncello”, substantial economic source of income for the whole area. Thanks to the aromatic properties of its zest, this lemon is also very suitable for the preparation of cocktails and more generally in the aromatization of alcoholic products (spirits).
